West High School

School to Work

The Food Pantry is now collaborating with West High School by participating in their “School to Work” program.  This program affords students an opportunity to interact with others in a real life setting.  Student volunteers assist in unloading food supplies, greeting pantry clients and distributing foods.  We’re delighted to welcome and work with these new volunteers!

In recent years, and initially through a donation from a parish member, St. Andrew’s has offered scholarship money to a West High School graduating senior pursuing a career in human services.  With the Church’s approval, the recipient of the scholarship is selected by the school’s Guidance Department. Several of the recipients have been refugees transplanted to Manchester who plan to use the award to help fund nursing school tuition.  The Vestry is committed to continuing this outreach by encouraging future donations.  Volunteer support insures the future funding of the award through a special event or campaign.
